QUINCY, MA (November 18, 2019) – Surus, a construction and development company with a mission to invest in the neighborhoods and communities where they work, today launched Neighborhood Impact, an investment and support initiative designed to benefit hyper local organizations through strategic programming.
The first organization selected to partner under this new concept is the Somerville Youth Development & Boxing Club, a tight-knit community of boxers, trainers, and members of all ages and abilities. The club offers training, conditioning, competition, and support to help members achieve more, both in and out of the ring.
“We are proud to support the Boxing Club with this initiative. I have been fortunate to witness firsthand the impact this volunteer-based team has on the community. The group aligns perfectly with the type of people we want to assist and our mission to support local,” said Steve Laverty, Surus Founder and Principal.
As part of the partnership, Surus has been donating gym equipment and upgrading the rings with new canvasses.
“This is a great place for the kids of Somerville and surrounding communities. We provide a free place for everyone to engage in a healthier lifestyle and, more importantly, a safe place of support to those looking for an alternative to drugs and alcohol,” said Norman “Stoney” Stone, Somerville Youth Development & Boxing Club President. “Sometimes it’s hard to deliver on our programming without the right equipment and support. However, with investments from the City of Somerville and Surus, we are able to continue delivering a great experience for our members.”
Surus’ Neighborhood Impact will be piloted throughout the rest of 2019 and into 2020. The program was created to assist with economic planning initiatives in local communities, support physical work, and provide strategic consulting.
